This is the workspace for the very popular Acquisitions File digitization project!
We will be digitizing an estimated 700,000 pages of the museum's official acquisitions files and attaching them to acquisition activity records in XG – bringing file research into the 21st century and making our colleagues happy.
The National Museum of American History is working with vendors to digitize the museum’s official acquisition files and other registration services materials. The scans are attached to records in the Collections Information System and available to staff, as well as stored in the SI DAMS for long term access and preservation.
General cycle of the Acquisition File Digitization Project:
The following assets are delivered by the vendor and processed by NMAH:
- Individual JPG scans of the contents of the files
- Compiled PDFs of the individual scans, reflecting the order of the physical files
- .txt files of the extracted OCR text of the files
